Call to Action
As Chairman of the Trustees of the Troy First United Methodist Church, I, like many, see the challenges we face within our community and world. We see a common thread – a lack of moral integrity within all arenas: home, work, worship and play. This is my call to action to find fellow church leaders and members to join me in re-establishing Trust in The Church so we can once again become leaders and teachers of values and morals.
Problems in the Church:
- Loss of Faith in the Church: Until the mid-1900’s, the Church was the leader in moral development and teachings within our communities, and world. Since that time, we have lost our way and are still trying to find it. Many Churches have lost 50% or more Church membership, and giving is declining as well – the trend is continuing on and on. We have to ask, “how could this happen?” The answer is people have lost faith in Church leadership and direction.
- 53% of the US Population DO NOT TRUST Church Leadership: According to Gallup, only 47% of the population has a high or very high estimation of the honesty and integrity of church leaders. That’s right. Less than half the population thinks church leaders are honest or very honest. As recently as 1985 that figure was 67%. Today church leaders rank ahead of lawyers, TV reporters and members of Congress, but behind nurses, doctors, pharmacists and police officers in terms of trust and integrity.
While many reasons exist why Churches have lost their standing within their communities, even more reasons exist why our communities are losing their moral integrity. The solution to both of these problems depends on the other. The Church needs to regain the trust of the community in order to teach morals and integrity, and the community needs to be able to trust the message of the church in order to regain confidence in the “Message.”
The selfishness that has infected our communities and nation needs to be curbed… before there is no one left for us.
“First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out – Because I was not a Socialist.
Then, they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out – Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then, they came for the Jews and I did not speak out – Because I was not a Jew.
Then, they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.”
To experience the Vision of how we can become true disciples and bring the principles of Christ into our hearts, minds, businesses, organizations, schools, communities and families.
“We need to step into the world and speak to people where they are,
in a way that befriends their fears and
speaks to their soul, heart and values – individually and collectively.”
-Richard Jorgensen, PhD (hc)
We need to unite and collaborate to form a real community of Disciples committed to the Core of Christianity: To Love God with All Our Hearts, Souls and Minds and to Love our Neighour as we Love Ourselves. The foundation of Christianity is based on two core commandments.
Using a proven technology, methodology and human understanding approach, I have sponsored and financed the beginning of our Church Co-Lab Institute movement through the Pocket Wisdom Insights. I am calling Church leaders, Church teams and Church members to come together to collaborate and address the core issues that we face. By developing a new level of understanding, we will develop effective solutions. These solutions can produce changes needed to turn around our communities, country and world.
I have found the leadership and resources we need. I have supported and financed a path that will work. I am looking for 20+ good Christians willing to join me … in Christian fellowship and partnership with a solution that can create a place to make our dream big enough to include and invite everyone.
I need others to stand up for what they believe is right and to join me in this movement!
Do you have the courage and conviction to make a difference?
Remember… “The world is a dangerous place – not because of the people who are evil but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.” Albert Einstein
In 2 Corinthians 13:2, Paul admonishes us by saying “I have already warned those who had been sinning when I was there on my second visit. Now I again warn them and all others, just as I did before, that this next time I will not spare them.”
We can join together to influence many lives before it is too late. We need to STOP trying to deliver the MESSAGE. We need to START FOCUSING ON ENGAGING people within a community and culture that is safe, unifying and supportive… so people are within a community in which they can hear the MESSAGE.
We NEED TO STOP PREACHING and START Demonstrating and Teaching.
Pocket Wisdom Insights (PWI) Co-Lab Insitutute movement is focused on engaging and rebuilding America (and the world) with the Four Absolutes to create solidarity. Pocket Wisdom Insights is built on a platform of engagement, interactive communication, and clear principles to create solidarity that activate creativity and supports an atmosphere of true collaboration.
PWI Co-Lab Insitutute offers us the (technology, methodology and human understanding) platform for us to engage, re-engage and re-unify our community and world, under the principles of Christianity…
Join the Mission
To build our PWI Co-Lab Insitutute, our first step is to put together a Flip eBook to document and memorialize our mission and vision for our institute – we welcome and invite all to participate and contribute.
We seek like-minded community member’s, leaders and visionaries, associations, professionals, educational institutions, media, supporters, vendors, donors and sponsors to join me and my congregation in making our dream big enough for everybody.
Keeping in mind “any problem well defined is already half solved.” We invite you to submit your comments below, as they relate to helping us define the problems, define the answers and discover solutions to the challenges we may face in reaching our goal. So that together we can develop a Co-Lab Institute, where together we can create long-term implementable app-based solutions to reach our communities, businesses, schools, industry and world.
As you share your insights and comments below, we invite you to consider:
- Why is our mission important to you, the Church, community and world?
- How can you participate and contribute to our mission?
- What problems do you see us potentially experiencing as we start to move towards our goals: to teach love and engagement by example; to put scripture at the bottoms of our feet and to live the great commandments?
- What answers to these problems can you suggest and share?
PLEASE NOTE: Selected “comment participants” will be invited to contribute their insight and wisdom to a section / chapter of our Co-Lab Institute Flip Book – “TOGETHER: Methodist Church.”
