We forgot how to take charge of our lives. The worst part is, we don\u2019t realize it.<\/p>\n<p>In the first video, Tristan Harris\u2019 \u201cfix\u201d for attention-sucking programs was to <strong>demand better technology to stop distraction<\/strong>. He describes what this technology should do (support people), but doesn\u2019t clearly define the answer and implementation of it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Technology isn't the problem:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The deliberate lack of public education<\/strong> regarding the degree of manipulation, persuasion and miscommunication of technology\u00a0<em>is.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>The <em>intent<\/em><\/strong> of those shaping the technology <em>is<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>This has resulted in behavioral conditioning where our attention span is less than that of a goldfish. Additionally, our thinking became driven by feelings and emotions. Now our communication is void of interaction and collaboration.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>In this digital age of smart devices and social media we are all connected, but no one is communicating.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Instead of bringing together more minds to better measure and define the problem, get to the root cause and subsequently discover the complimentary answer, he focused on the technology. <strong>A technology focus is what got us into this mess<\/strong> to begin with... <em>We cannot use the same thinking that caused the problem to solve it.<\/em> There can be no solution until we change our thinking.<\/p>\n<p>Tristan used the same thinking to draw his follow-on conclusions two years later. Although the details he shares about the \u201ccontrol rooms\u201d are terrible, the unbearable truth is: <strong>nobody is doing anything about it and we are becoming further absorbed by our technology addiction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>A handful of people at a handful of technology companies,<\/em><\/strong><em><br \/>\n<strong>through their choices,<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>will steer what a billion people are thinking today.<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/em>TRISTAN HARRIS<\/p>\n<p>During the last 20 years, <strong>technology began making decisions for people, guiding our thoughts and conditioning us<\/strong> to act a certain way. Those in-charge of technology consciously chose to take away peoples\u2019 ability to make decisions. We have lost the ability to think, not just think for ourselves, not just to make good decisions, but in-general \u2013 our comprehension and critical thinking processes are all but extinct.<\/p>\n<p>Universities have built curriculums that illustrate how to capture consciousness, <em>and sub-consciousness<\/em>, not for the purpose of uniting us or healing our broken culture, but for the purpose of selling us more. Our higher-education system is training more people to kill our thinking and increase our <em>reactions<\/em>. <strong>The universities offering \"persuasive technology labs\u201d saw an education market they could penetrate; they never stopped to ask: should we?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fixing technology alone will not help us.<\/strong> Technology has no intent of its own. The intent of technology is driven by its architect(s) and limited to logic, reasoning and trending prediction. Artificial intelligence (AI) is void of sentience and creativity.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>Success in creating AI could be the biggest event in the history of our civilisation. But it could also be the last unless we learn how to avoid the risks.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Alongside the benefits, AI will also bring dangers, like powerful autonomous weapons, or new ways for the few to oppress the many. It will bring great disruption to our economy. And in the future, AI could develop a will of its own \u2013 a will that is in conflict with ours.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>In short, the rise of powerful AI will be either the best, or the worst thing, ever to happen to humanity. We do not know which.<\/em><\/strong> (Stephen Hawking)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>Imagine when the first real AI awakens<\/em>, what will AI think of us? What will its logical programming think of our <strong>childlike mental processes where: feelings drive our decisions and actions?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Instead of fearing and villainizing AI, we can build up an antibody, so to speak.<strong> Human Intelligence (HI) is the ability to respond, not react, to our environment.<\/strong> HI is composed of self-authority, self-responsibility and self-accountability. With those three characteristics present, a person is able to take charge of their life and learn from their experiences. Without those elements, how do we learn? How do we grow?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>\u00a0A man is but the product of his thoughts what he thinks, he becomes.<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nMAHATMA GANDHI<\/p>\n<p>Special programs can teach people how to think, communicate and overcome the technology addiction rampant within our society. Sitting on a mountain with a guru can lead you to enlightenment, but what happens when you return to the environment that birthed the thinking you just learned to let go of? It doesn\u2019t take long for most of us to be dragged right back into old thinking\/ways. HI is elusive after all.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Change cannot happen one person at a time.<\/strong> The only solution is a <strong>CULTURE CHANGE<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Possibilities<b>\u00a0for Consideration: Changing Culture<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Does the environment create the person, or does a person create their environment? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Both are true.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When we learn how to think and communicate we can become a contributing member of our environment and choose\/develop our culture.
