What is the Invisible Maturity Barrier?<\/strong><\/p>\n

When a boss or employee gets trapped in a controlling mindset, an Invisible Maturity Barrier<\/strong><\/em> is put up. <\/p>\n

This barrier keeps individuals from progressing to mentorship, sharing common goals and reaching a new horizon of entrepreneurial opportunities, together.<\/p>\n

The Invisible Maturity Barrier<\/em><\/strong> is based on control and destroys organizations, businesses, churches, families.<\/p>\n

This process of control can be seen in the illustration below. <\/p>\n

There are 3 main characteristics of the Invisible Maturity Barrier:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Individuals control information<\/strong> \u2013 when a person becomes aware that they are being controlled, they immediately search for something that they can control, to get their power back. That something is typically information. These people often appear to be helpful, but don't be fooled. Many will withhold information altogether, but still provide the illusion of being honest through a willing display of sharing partial information.

    \"I will only tell you enough to make you think I\u2019ve disclosed all the information, but the real important details will stay with me until such a time when their revealing would best suit my agenda.\"<\/em><\/li>\n

  2. Individuals keep secrets <\/strong>\u2013 when a person is controlling information they remain quiet and non-responsive. They appear to be deep thinkers, but instead they are really only keeping deep secrets. They keep secrets to avoid judgment and to maintain the upper hand.
    \n

    \"I will only appear to be disengaged, confused or to not know the answer, but the reality is, I'm keeping track of it all. Still, I don't want you to know what I know... because I would then be vulnerable to your judgement of me.\"<\/em><\/li>\n

  3. Individuals use their power to hurt others<\/strong> \u2013 these individuals usually will not express remorse or regret, nor will they make amends. They hurt others to verify their power (to themselves) and will experience power from having control, seeing others believe things that aren\u2019t true and watching others be hurt. They will stay angry, enjoy apathy, become righteous and arrogant, but will usually suffer from self-hatred, resulting in more apathy.

    \"I will typically act surprised when somebody else is hurt through my actions or inaction. Even though no decision is still a decision, and I know this, I will still attempt to hide in ignorance. I didn't know... it wasn't my fault.\"<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Likes to Hurt Others:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    An individual who has become stuck at the Invisible Maturity Barrier does not want to be held accountable for their actions or inaction and those who hold them accountable or expose their secrets are in for the ride of their life. Retaliation is typically passive and always <\/em>vicious. <\/p>\n

    When one of these individuals hurts someone else, they are usually neither remorseful nor surprised. Because it is not a surprise to them, nor is there any remorse, the only conclusion is that the vicious behavior was done on purpose<\/em>. <\/p>\n

    There may not have been any structured decision of, \"I'm going to hurt somebody... and this is how...\" but it is a conscious decision nonetheless.<\/p>\n

    \"I could chose to get my work done on time, but instead I will browse social media on my phone for an hour\"<\/em> (this is a decision<\/em>, and whatever comes as a result was on purpose<\/em>).<\/p>\n

    Self-Centeredness

    Another way to see this unfold is though the lens of self-centeredness. Because the individual was so focused on themselves, they were not aware of anyone else, therefore, they did not account for the effects of their behavior on others. When someone else is hurt as a result, it may very well be a surprise, the first time<\/em>. However, once they become aware of this, and nothing changes<\/em> (there is still no remorse), once again the conclusion is that it was done on purpose. <\/p>\n

    The unwillingness to change<\/em> makes this conclusion undeniable, and yet the remorse and the decision to change is, in fact, the first step toward reaching the first plateau of humility (who I am and who I am not<\/em>), which is the first step out of the confines of the Invisible Maturity Barrier.<\/p>\n

    History doesn't repeat itself when we do it again, it is we who are repeating history. <\/p>\n

    When a collective body \u201cControllers\u201d come together<\/strong> they become fully conditioned and emboldened by their collective power, thereby becoming and capable of:<\/p>\n
