{"id":4881,"date":"2016-07-01T18:03:20","date_gmt":"2016-07-02T01:03:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pocketwisdominsights.com\/pwicolab\/?p=4881"},"modified":"2019-02-18T20:56:01","modified_gmt":"2019-02-19T04:56:01","slug":"what-employers-want","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pocketwisdominsights.com\/pwicolab\/leadership\/pwi-co-lab-staff\/what-employers-want\/","title":{"rendered":"What Employers Are Looking For"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Opening Insights<\/h2>\n<p>In today\u2019s employment market, employers are looking for employees that are rooted in honesty, exercise selflessness, are open in their intentions and live in reality.<\/p>\n<h2>Informational Insights<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>Jay Parikh, global head of engineering and infrastructure at the social media giant conglomerate revealed in an article for the <a href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2016\/06\/how-facebook-tries-to-prevent-office-politics\">Harvard Business Review<\/a> recently the six questions his company asks of prospective employees to weed out those who might only be looking out for themselves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLook for empire builders, self-servers, and whiners in the hiring process \u2014\u00a0and don\u2019t hire them,\u201d Parikh wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll companies screen candidates for skill sets and experience,\u201d he added. \u201cEveryone wants to hire the best and smartest people they can find. We add additional criteria, screening for the ability to calibrate to a team environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Check out the six questions Parikh says Facebook executives ask of potential talent:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1) \u201cDescribe your responsibilities as a leader.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2) \u201cCan you tell me about four people whose careers you have fundamentally improved?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>3) \u201cDescribe a few of your peers at your company and what type of relationship you have with each of them.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>4) \u201cWhat did you do on your very best day at work?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5) \u201cWhat does office politics mean to you, and do you see politics as your job?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>6) \u201cTell me about a project that you led that failed.
