They begin to question life, its meaning and their place in it.\u00a0Dealing with the challenges of loss, trauma, war and the past can become overwhelming. Without an ever-present and consistent support system, community and\/or brotherhood to buddy up with life becomes hopeless and many give up.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The\u00a0Veterans Co-Lab&#x2122; of the World (VCW)<\/strong> is an online outreach program that connects and supports \u201cVeteran Villages\u201d and communities.<\/p>\n<p>This program is offered by AwareComm\u00ae and funded by philanthropy, local businesses, educational institutions and organizations working in partnership with community leaders. Five of the primary challenges are listed below:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Alcohol, Drug and Other Dependencies and Addictions<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Homelessness<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>11% of the homeless adult population are veterans<sup>1<\/sup><\/li>\n<li>20% of the male homeless population are veterans<sup>1<\/sup><\/li>\n<li>68% reside in principal cities<sup>1<\/sup><\/li>\n<li>32% reside in suburban\/rural areas<sup>1<\/sup><\/li>\n<li>51% of individual homeless veterans have disabilities<sup>1<\/sup><\/li>\n<li>50% have serious mental illness<sup>1<\/sup><\/li>\n<li>70% have substance abuse problems<sup>1<\/sup><\/li>\n<li>57% are white males, compared to 38% of non-veterans<sup>1<\/sup><\/li>\n<li>50% are age 51 or older, compared to 19% non-veterans<sup>1<br \/>\n<\/sup><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7R_o8Bs0sZ8\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Unemployment<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>High Rates of Suicide, Mental Health Issues (PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, etc.)<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Suicide: 20 veterans a day die from suicide<sup>2<\/sup><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Community Isolation<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"display: inline !important;\">Without addressing these 5 key challenges, we can never truly help our veterans and honor the sacrifices that they made for our freedom, liberty and future. Providing a comprehensive solution, the <strong>Veterans Co-Lab&#x2122; of the World (VCW)<\/strong> addresses these <strong>5 Focus Areas<\/strong> of veteran support:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Sobriety<\/strong> \u2013 many vets develop dependencies to cope with a world that doesn\u2019t make sense<\/li>\n<li><strong>Homes<\/strong> \u2013 across the nation, veteran homelessness is a growing phenomenon \u2013 it is a real challenge for vets to carry out their next mission (life) without first establishing a base of operations<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jobs <\/strong>\u2013 veterans go from having a clearly defined mission while in service to no purpose, no direction, no reason, no greater purpose\u2026<\/li>\n<li><strong>PTSD<\/strong> \u2013 post traumatic stress is a debilitating state, but it is reversible using proven EMDR methodology \u2013 no veteran PTSD sufferer should bear this burden<\/li>\n<li><strong>Community<\/strong> \u2013 many veterans are alone and unable to establish meaningful relationships in the \u201c<em>real world<\/em>\u201d (a world of narcissism and selfishness)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Overview of The Veterans Co-Lab&#x2122; of the World<\/h3>\n<p><strong>The Veterans Co-Lab&#x2122; of the World (VCW) <\/strong>is an app-based <em><strong>platform + process + managed service<\/strong><\/em> that allows for an [eco]system of support where all participants experience unity and empowerment.
