Part 9 – Why Human Intelligence?

Why Human Intelligence?

Looking Back, Moving Forward: In the last eMod Buddy Blog you discovered that the solution to the problem of fear can be found as we raise our collective human intelligence (cultural intelligence), and in so doing we will learn how to transition from a state of fear to a state of trust. In this eMod Buddy Blog we take a brief step back and explore why Human Intelligence is important from a practical, economic and cultural sense.

You may have asked yourself, with all the talk about Artificial Intelligence (AI), do we really need to care about making ourselves smarter AND does HUMAN INTELLIGENCE hold any value?

AI only follows a set of rules. AI programs are written in a way that defines the situation and the reaction, (if->then->else). AI does not have the ability to anticipate irrational human action (human error) and reactions. The combinations and permutations are exponentially impossible to consider, even for WATSON.

Take another example… the number of accidents for “autodrive” vehicles is rising significantly. The answer to this problem is found in understanding driving as an ecosystem. The relationship goes beyond the vehicle and the computer program driving the vehicle. A good (professional) driver not only has very few accidents but he/she prevents over 10,000 accidents over a driving career by compensating for the mistakes of others.

THE CAR cannot be programed to anticipate all of the combinations and permutations possible for the other car(s) to error and cause an accident. Hence, AI cannot effectively perform the task of defensive driving. Only if all vehicles are operated under the same program (same rules) will automated vehicles (or aircraft) be practical. As long at the human element is present, fixed automation cannot be fool-proof.

Another example of this can be found in the field of healthcare. Did you know that healthcare has now risen to the 3rd leading cause of death caused by preventable errors cause by humans? Only through the dimension of human caring, understanding and anticipating, can errors be eliminated.

What’s the bottom line?

AI needs to become dependent on human intelligence, and not humans dependent on AI.

The human dimension must raise its intelligence to work with AI.

Solving The Predicted 40 Million Employee Job Crisis

A Harvard Business Review study claims as many as 40 million Americans may soon have job skills that have no economic value. [1]A Report by McKinsey Company suggests that today, 45 percent of employee activities can be automated with existing technologies, accounting for about $2 trillion in annual wages. This includes low paid and high paid employees. For example The Report estimated that 20% of CEO’s activities could be automated.

This predication will materialize 10 fold if we do not raise our human intelligence.

AT&T became very aware of this problem when its “Baby Boomers” went into retirement. The people that built and made the company grow, retired. AT&T was left without the wisdom (practical experience) from its old and loyal labor market. Converting to automation without capturing and infusing the wisdom (practical application) / the critical knowledge from its old and loyal legacy, severely limited the automation success. This is how AT&T lost its massive market hold.

As the human dimension raises its intelligence to work with AI, we capture the wisdom held within the minds of the “40 million people” (intellectual property) and translate that wisdom into definable insight (intellectual assets) — we can then integrate that irreplaceable wisdom back into the changing world.

As a result, effectiveness and efficiency will reign and the judgment of the people based on their experience and wisdom will continue to provide the insight necessary to keep “the intelligent personal human experience alive, in an impersonal digital age.”

HOW DO WE DO THIS?

WHAT’S NEXT?

Read / re-read the Human Intelligence eBook (below).

Get ready for the next eMod Buddy Blog titled: “HOW to Thinking, NOT What to Think”

Come to a Wisdom Co-Lab Incubator Class to see how you can map your path to passion, purpose, power and profit!

[1] //www.forbes.com/sites/chasewithorn/2015/12/07/billionaire-jeff-greene-says-technology-will-kill-white-collar-jobs-hosts-conference-on-inequality/

Technology Evolution or Revolution?
