Opening Insights
We come into this world knowing true value. The world teaches us many things – and often distorts our sense and experience of value. The realities of the world are around us, yet many of us “feel” powerless to do anything about it – consumed by self and a world that has taught us that “WE ARE SPECIAL, DESERVING, ENTITLED and NUMBER 1.”
Informational Insights
We come to believe that things just happen to us. We come to expect that the world will simply be handed to us on a silver platter, to match our silver spoon. The problem is that the world doesn’t work that way, yet we continue to expect to GET (without giving).
We are told growing up that the world is at our feet. Few of us are taught how or that we actually have to move our feet in order to get where we want to go and be. We fail to learn the principles of positioning, timing and discipline, as we sit in front of our computers, laptops and phones swiping away and “controlling our world.”
We find ourselves waiting for life to happen to us, without investing the time and energy in charting our own course.
When life doesn’t go our way we react – because this is what we have learned to do. We become the helpless victim or the aggressive, resistant and defiant bully. We become angry when we do something, or when we don’t do something. We live in anger and anger soon becomes a pattern not just of behavior, but of living.
As the night gives way to the dawn we see a new day rise and we wake to the dawn of a new day, yet for many of us the new day is still the old. Haunted by patterns and habits of the past we stay trapped in our prisons of self.

Possibilities for Consideration
Growing up is all about learning… about learning how to step out of the prison of our beliefs, and discover and uncover value. This journey can happen at any age. We just need the right tools, insight and mentors to:
- See the truth,
- Deal with truth,
- Accept the truth,
- Decide what to do about the truth, and
- Implement the decision.
