Opening Insights: The Right to Choose
The role of a creative leader is not to have all the ideas; it's to create a culture where everyone can have ideas and feel that they're valued.
KEN ROBINSON
PWI Co-Lab teaches us that life is about:
- POSITIONING and TIMING
- Having the right resources and plan to deal with situations when they occur
- Planning our life and living our life; planning our work and working our plan
Many of us don't learn these skills and we watch our life pass us by, as helpless spectators of our conditioning; BUT THE TRUTH IS, WE HAVE A CHOICE.
Informational Insights: The Wolf Pack
Examine the picture and explore...
Did you know:
A group of wolves work and live as a team.
The three in front are old and sick, they walk in front to set the pace of the running group lest they get left behind. HOWEVER, they bring direction and wisdom.
The next five are the strongest and best; they are tasked to protect the front side if there is an attack.
The pack in the middle are always protected from any attack.
The five behind them are also among the strongest and best; they are tasked to protect the back side if there is an attack.
The last one is the LEADER, who:
- Ensures that no one is left behind;
- Keeps the pack unified and on the same path;
- Always ready to run in any direction to
protect and serve as the 'bodyguard' to the
entire group.
Possibilities for Consideration: Placement and Positioning
Fear isn't so difficult to understand. After all, weren't we all frightened as children? Nothing has changed since Little Red Riding Hood faced the big bad wolf. What frightens us today is exactly the same sort of thing that frightened us yesterday. It's just a different wolf. This fright complex is rooted in every individual.
ALFRED HITCHCOCK
Many of us learn that in order to survive, you have to be ahead of the PACK, as we can see above, in nature this could not be further from the truth. Leading the pack requires experience and sight into life and direction - the ability to understand the trends and terrain. True leadership learns to lead from behind. True leadership earns the right to lead from behind, and the support of the rest of the pack to both follow and lead as nature and leadership intended.
- What pack are you in?
- Are you in a pack you chose or was it chosen for you?
- Where did you learn you need to be positioned in the pack (BELIEFS)?
- Where do you want to be positioned in the pack (VALUES)?

We are all wolves
Howling to the same moon.
ATTICUS POETRY
While many of us feel as if we are victims of circumstance, with the right resources and direction, we can join a pack that will teach us how to be both a follower and a leader. The questions is, do we want to walk through that door?
