The result was a successful coming together of the department! What I as a manger noticed was that a willingness to help was developing – a willingness to work together. It stated our journey towards staff reduction in the most positive light that I could imagine. We began helping others. We became more excited about the future possibilities than holding onto our old ways. We began to trust. We began to release resentments. While the blame did not cease altogether, it certainly was reduced. We did become that team, and we continued to be that team today – even now, when at the end of May 2002, I will only have 7 staff member left.
