Opening Insights
Inspirational Movies, such as Kung Fu, are often assigned to set the mood and support recovery principles and lessons.
Informational Insights
Assignments are often customized to the Recovery Buddy Participant. Here is an example where the participant watched the movie Kung Fu (Pilot) and was asked to explore the following questions:
-
- What is the difference between an event and an experience?
- If you were to write about a life happening, how would the writing be different between event and experience perspectives?
- How would you teach your team about it and about what I learned last night?
- How would I apply these principles of differences between events and experiences of watching the opening of Kung Fu?
- The Kung Fu Pilot was about:
- Silence your mind
- Rearrange the letter of “silence” to the word “listen”
- Learn what you heard, saw and felt (ears, eyes, heart)
- Write honestly, from the perspective of the four absolutes, what those elements of my experience (of watching the opening of Kung Fu) meant to me in terms of what I value and what I want to find.
- The Kung Fu Pilot was about:
Learning what to think has served its purpose. Learning how to think will pave the way…
Possibilities for Consideration
Take a moment and examine…
- As you reviewed the material above, what stood out to you?
- What is the potential impact, economically and/or socially?
- What action is needed to stop or support this idea?
- You may want to consider whether you:
- want to be aware of,
- should become supportive of,
- would want to be active in this topic?

Being willing is not enough; we must do.
