Opening Insights: Grandpa and Grandma Principle
The struggle of the young generations (Linksters and Millennials) to learn from the wisdom and insight of their elders is growing.
- We see evidence of this in businesses, where people are being replaced by robots.
- We see evidence of this in tribal communities, where social media is valued over ancient wisdom.
- We see evidence of this in our schools and universities, where students fail to learn how to think and communicate outside of the prescribed lines of the curriculum!
The general divides are growing. The problem is systemic and, as many have researched and defined, it was socially constructed and engineered (such as, Orwell, Bradbury, Huxley, Eisenhower, Kennedy).
Figure 1: Generational Gaps
Some of us may be leaders/grandparents and seek to share our wisdom and insight with our employees/grandchildren in hopes that they learn from our mistakes and blaze a new path – continuing and expanding our legacy. Yet, the reality is we have no idea how to get our employees/grandchildren’s attention in a way that they:
- See
- Care
- Partner With
- Learn and Discover
- Apply, Experience and Assess
Many of us have had the experience of having leaders/grandparents. Those of us who had (or still have) the leader/grandparent experience, may never have learned how to relate, communicate or learn from them, as we seem to be living in different centuries and speaking different languages.
Informational Insights: Effective Knowledge Transfer
Throughout our lifetime we play many roles. We are children, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, neighbors, employees and so on. Perhaps one of the most poignant and dynamic roles is that of the Grandparent.
Grandparents are able to offer their years of insight and wisdom as a means for guiding others (specifically children) in a direction of self-discovery. Extract from a Grandpa’s Blog
Grandpas and Grandmas are the leaders of yesterday and the visionaries of tomorrow, yet their wisdom is being lost, along with the solidarity and convictions of current and future generations. Millennials don’t want to be led or told what to do… but one thing is certain, they cannot deny that they want and/or need a GRANDPA/GRANDMA.
A child needs a grandparent, anybody’s grandparent,
to grow a little more securely into an unfamiliar world.
CHARLES and ANN MORSE
The question is how do we Package Leaders as Grandpas/Grandmas rather than “authorities/bosses.”
Business wisdom, tribal wisdom, training, interventions and programs need to be captured, measured, packaged, published, transferred and shared with the world. It is important that we not only package and present the content, but transfer the wisdom in a way that it can be applied to the lives of people: young and old, near and far.
Figure 2: Mentoring Co-Lab Model
AwareComm’s Collaboration Laboratories Mentoring (Co-Labs) work closely with the Legacy Publishing division to ensure that the leaders of the Co-Labs don’t just become the leaders, but instead they become the GRANDPAS and GRANDMAS to a generation desperately in need of guidance.
Co-Labs provide a mentorship model that supports Applied Knowledge Transfer™ through transformational, experiential learning and bilateral communication of knowledge and culture. This model also serves to add economic and social benefit to businesses and local communities while addressing social problems.
Mentoring Co-Lab (in collaboration with PWI Legacy Publishing) empowers us to transcend history and the accumulation of events into legacy and insight to guide us through life. It’s like having a grandpa and a grandma in a bottle for young and old, from the gifted to the challenged, and all those in-between – everyone learns, everyone grows up!
History represents chronological events and the records of our past.
Heritage is the depth of insight and value found in history.
Legacy is the spirit in the hearts of the people.
Welcome to Legacy Publishing.

Extracts from History Holds the Key to Wisdom
Possibilities for Consideration: Legacy Solution
PWI Legacy Publishing was formed to open the door to a safe place to learn how to capture the wisdom in everybody’s pockets, package and publish that insight as wisdom for the world to see and understand. Collectively, we will transcend history for a process of repeating ourselves to a people who learn and grow. Together we will make a smarter, more intelligent, and most importantly, wiser world together.
Mentoring Co-Labs were formed to ensure that the implementation of the published legacy is effectively transferred using state-of-the-art technology, methodology, human understanding and data science (see Figure 2 above).
- What if leaders could package themselves as grandpas and grandmas in a bottle?
- What if leaders could father a new generation – an era of emotionally mature, responsible, accountable and caring followers, while simultaneously turning a profit?
- What if leaders could clearly define, measure and quantify their CSR – not just on a balance sheet, but within the heart, soul and legacy of their companies and communities?
- What if leaders could drive a proven process to capture, measure, package, publish, transfer and share their insight and wisdom with the world?

provide the pathway to a bridge that links the wisdom of the past to the possibilities of the future.

If we are to bridge this immense generational gap we must reestablish the links of the chain of social evolution. That being: child – parent – grandparent, tied into a unified thread – “The Walton Principle 101.” The HOW TO DO this is discovered within Co-Labs.
