As we learn in the Co-Lab™, generational, institutional, political and social divides are just illusions used to deceive and conquer. They are the result of cultural manipulation and conditioning. Before joining the Co-Lab™ the life I lived was one of privileged isolation. Raised by immature functioning alcoholics who wanted me to be the person they could not be, I learned to pretend to be 'perfect' and avoided failure or mistakes at all costs. As a result, I lived my life void of risk, faith or discovery. Like the butterfly who never had the chance to find its way out of the cocoon, I lived life alone, detached and isolated. I was never present, always preparing for the next event, the next place, never finding grounding in the moment or day. I struggled to relate to people from a place of honesty and selflessness and manipulation was my only goal and game. I had an entitled attitude of:
- I don't care
- I don't hear
- I already know
My learned conditioning and personal challenges were great, despite what on the surface appeared to be a good education. My Columbia Master’s degree only reinforced my fears of failure, emotional immaturity and control. The Co-Lab™ did and does for me what our safe space millennials are demanding: a safe place to be afraid. Yet one not outside, but within. Attitudes of entitlement and immaturity are not tolerated within the Co-Lab™, instead self-authority, self-responsibility and self-accountability are shared and taught in working in collaboration and unison. The power of the Co-Labs™ for the individual are clear... yet the power of Co-Labs™ for the collective culture are evolutionary, and that is where AwareComm® is taking the world.
