This is not about a sermon. This is not about a book. What we have to discuss is the application of spiritual principles.
Self-help books are interesting, enlightening, but rarely empowering. For beliefs are formed based on experiences. You cannot see nor hear what the mind does not believe. Therefore, self-help books are interesting, enlightening, but rarely empowering to bring about change. They are not capable of dealing with the dynamics of change.
To invoke change requires a process (a methodology) that initiates a philosophy (search for truth) that is common and compatible with a group of people committed to common change. Without that, books become weapons and they deceive (not the whole truth), divide (driven by blame), and conquer (justifying and invoking judgement).
Books provide labels for concepts and ideas but rarely encompass the depth of understanding necessary for individual application. Citing a book may indicate that you are right, but being right changes NOTHING... and when it's all said and done, EVERYTHING is still broken.
A wide array of books of enlightenment, and even scripture, have been used in this way. More wars have been justified by scripture than any other document. Hence the implementation of scripture using a methodology that invokes community application.
You cannot answer a question with a question and you cannot continue to speak a language that the other person does not understand – if you want solidarity.
